I passed by on Saturday, but it was open. It was a weekday, but it was just after the store was closed at 10:00.
I have never taken out, but how is it if you ask the shop?
It's open on Saturdays. I went there the week before last, so I'm sure there is no doubt.
It is written in the column of business hours.
I can't.
Open
Still in the same booth. Just on Sunday, not open
I can only understand Japanese
May be it will be close, because Tsukiji Market will be close.
Excellent food at a reasonable price!
Famous for it giblets (harumon) The beef rice bowl cost 800 yen not bad except a bit salty for me. Very fast service. Had to stand to eat. This place started in 1947
Nothing fancy but quite good. I waited in line for about 5min at 10am on Monday.
A delicious hole in the wall place in Tsukiji! Hard to miss it with the snaking queues - don’t expect ‘luxurious’ service but service is good nonetheless (no complaints). With a standing eating concept here - you’ll quickly forget everything after the first bite of the beef and rice!
This signature beef bowl rice (traditional beef stew served with Japanese rice) from this shop is not to be missed when you visit the Tsukiji Market in Tokyo. The finely sliced beef stew (with caramelised onions and gravy) was super tender and delicious..... this has been one of the highlights of our visit to Japan.
Queue is quite short (around 5 mins). Went there around 9am on a Thursday. Got the number 2, food is good but nothing spectacular.
A long queue including the locals for getting a bowl of beef don. But most were tourists. Maybe us being brainwashed by the TV travel programme which introduced this old restaurant. Anyway, the food was not bad. But I preferred the Chinese style of beef hormone, as I found the taste is not too strong
One of the best gyudon i’ve ever had! Worth the queue i’d say. A definite must try if you’re around the area😊👍🏻
Usually you have to wait in line to get one bowl of hormon stew but lucky me I didnt have to today (eventho after that there's long lined up ppl behind me haha). The hormon stew tasted so gooooood and you have to eat it while standing in front of the stall.... good experience when you are visiting tsukiji market🙂
GET THE HORUMON DON (offal/innards bowl), NOT THE BEEF BOWL. I made the mistake of only getting the beef bowl the first time I visited and saw everyone else order the horumon don and then wistfully wished I had made the better choice because I did not enjoy the beef bowl. Their beef bowl is not like what you'd get at the usual beef bowl chains - instead, the beef is broken up into tiny bits and the texture is too much of mush for me to enjoy (unless that's your thing). The horumon don, on the other hand, IS AMAZING. It's the best way to eat innards because it's stewed in this bubbling cauldron into a thick, rich goodness that goes perfectly with hot rice, spring onions and a sprinkling of shichimi. Yum.note: everyone has to order an item, no sharing of one bowl for multiple people. You can order one horumon/beef bowl then get just the stewed horumon (horumon ni) or the yaki tofu/tofu and meat (ie non rice item).
Very well known and popular beef don stand. I have had it a few years ago and really liked it. Unfortunately, this second try turned out not as so good. The owners seemed to be the same, but the flavors were not there. Something went missing. Now, it was just a bowl of rice with some salty beef intestines that have been way over cooked. Disappointing!
Before we went to the Tsukiji Fish Market, we already heard of this place. We ordered the beef stew and it was amazing! It is very different from the "standard" gyudon that you can buy at every corner. Kitsuneya's stew has a thick and rich sauce that coats all the tender and soft pieces of beef. The sauce has a lot of onion, it's sweeter than the classic gyudon sauce, and my guess is that it contains a lot of aromatic spices (like star anise). It was the most satisfying food we've had in Tokyo!
Not worth. I usually don't like offal so didn't have high expectation. But the shop owner is very rude. They don't like you sharing the food and keep looking at us and b itching cuz we were standing around with our friends while they were eating. Also, it was 6:30 in the morning. Not like they were busy there was lots o space available
this is a beef bowl street stand and they definitely close by 2pm and on Sundays. we came at 230p weekday and they were closed, and the lady told me so.the two options were 1) beef, and 2) guts. we tried both and all of us preferred the beef for texture and taste. it's fine, but nothing I would go out of my way for again. it tastes a lot like kalua pig and cabbage from hawaii (without the cabbage, like a oyster sauce and onion flavor).Overall kind of salty and greasy and not sure I would recommend this to people, but it was certainly busy there so it's popular. the line moves fast. you have to wait for a place to eat standing up on the side.
Ordered the Beef Organ Stew Rice Bowl(870yen). The gravy of the stew eaten with rice is so addictive. It covers up the organ smell and taste so it is suitable for people that do not dare to eat organ.
The gyudon is very tasty, but I think something is not right with the beef - too lean? maybe just way over-cooked? Delicious meal nonetheless if you are in the area and want to skip eating raw fish...
Very good Horumon Donburi (Rice topped with Horumon = Organ meat). Tasteful as long as you can eat Organ meat. It is not just Sushi in Tsukiji Market!
Forget about the tourist trap sushi, grilled wagyu skewers etc. this should be the only reason to travel to Tsukiji outer market. This shop has been in the market since the early days, and truly a treasure.Order the stewed beef rice bowl with a side of beef innards and have the best beef bowl of your life. Deep rich flavor that will make you devour the entire bowl in minutes and wish you had room for more. Not recommended for big groups and those with luggage as it’s standing only. There’s also a sign that discourages sharing of food.
The best gyu don I have ever had and I have had a lot!!! It is the ultimate fast food!!!
Unique place. Hormone done was delicious with oshinko(cucumber) and beer. Nikutofu (meat tofu) was also great.
A must go to place if your visiting the fish market. The stew is hearty and very flavourful. Expect some queu to order.
We were suggested to not eat seafood in Tsukiji (go figure) so we went to eat at Kitsuneya instead. Located in the market, the gyudon was hearty and piping hot. The horumon bowl on the other hand is an acquired taste, it had a very strong offal taste that wouldn't sit well with many. The gyudon was really great though. Note that the place is designed for a quick meal: pay, eat, and go.
Be brave, join the queue and order yourself a bowl or two thereafter (the queue moves quite fast). Add an egg, it's a must. They truly frown on those sharing so don't! The flavours are in the broth so the more the better. I wouldn't order a beer to go with this because it taste best alone. Forget about eating slowly, just wallop it all in extempore. Come again the next morning and join the queue again. No regrets. If you think the standard has dropped, try some chain restaurant beef rice and then come back again for a simple comparison test.
Smelled as we walked by then saw the queue - stewed beef over rice was fairly simple but excellently done! Line moved very quickly
Beef is quite strong in smell. Sat beside the bin they used near the cooking area and dining bench which is quite unhygienic for Japan
Personally I prefer “beef don-buri” to “offal/liver don-buri”. I have tried both but believe beef don-buri is tastier and is cheaper in fact.
Cheap and tasty. But not great. Worth a visit if you are nearby, but don't travel from afar. Queue is long but quick. You will need to stand and eat outside on the sidewalk.Note: you are not supposed to bring your suitcases with you to this, and the area around the market. Of course it doesn't stop tourists from Hong Kong.
Tasty bowls of home-cooked goodness. Standing area.
food is not really good..
A shop that specializes in beef bowls, the shop owner was really friendly. Though do note during peak hours it is very crowded and it is strongly advised to go early around 8 - 9 AM to avoid the crowds. And yes it is better that Yoshinoya.
This place sells beef don (rice). There are a couple of options but the best is the plain beef don. We also ordered the beef with innards and that was slightly tasteless. Things to note:- They close fairly early- One of the ladies serving seems fairly grumpy and may not like you taking photos with her face shown- No english menu- Long lines but moves quite fast- Pretty much a street vendor so you may need to sit on some makeshift chairs and tables- One of the best beef dons we have had
Full and hearty meal. Serving is great for 1 person. Just point and order, should be around 750yen upwards. Meat dish at a famous seafood market, definitely a winner.
A remarkable beef-stew rice in my whole Tokyo trip!
An affordable hearty meal perfect for a cold rainy Tokyo day
Hearty hot bowl of rice with tasty beef tripe stewed in a stoneware. The fresh scallion refreshes every bite letting one enjoy every spoonful with pure makansutra pleasure
The beef intestine taste gross and disgusting. Do not try it unless you like the strong smell. Try the other beef meat instead.
Delicious gyudon. The line waiting for it was long but there are many standing areas to eat.
It's pretty decent but no English menu. We ordered the beef rice only to find out that you can just order a small portion of beef and intestines. Also they have a 'strict' no sharing of food policy. Which put me off at first but oh well, at least it was affordable.
Best beef bowl I had in my life. Good quality beef, awesome sauce on Japanese rice
I realized there are many local people in the long queue, so I also joined. Eventually the Gyudon is worth for the waiting time (15-20mins). I quite enjoyed!
[¥825 per pax] Delicious beef bowl, ate here twice during my trip. Found the service to be decent, as long as you’re not being a rude tourist cutting the queue/ordering one bowl to share/taking pictures of the owners (considered rude in japan), there’s no ‘terrible service’ that many speak of. Recommended, go for the gyudon with half boiled egg.
flavor was a bit mild for me.
Beautiful simple food. Best beef bowl (gyu-don) in town. Strongly recommended
The beef organ “Horumon” bowl is so delicious! The rich deep flavor goes so well with rice, and the green onions on top so refreshing and balancing out the richness. Tastes even better with a little bit of chili powder provided by the stall. The stall is very busy and you eat standing. However it is not too difficult to find a spot to put down your food. Stall owner is friendly.
Odinary tastes , Normally not special
Ordered a Gyudon with egg and Horumon without the rice. Well worth the price I would say. Don't order the Horumon if you don't like guts as not everyone will like it, but if you're feeling adventurous, you will be rewarded.
きつねや (Best Gyudon Stall)Ordered the ホルモン丼 (hormone) and 焼き豆腐(Yakitofu) and half cooked egg. that made is a perfect combination meal for my lunch.the taste is good and really missed it again. Will be a must to go back again. But please beware of the line, whereby will be crowned around 10 am to noon. either you go early to have breakfast or later lunch. I will recommend to have breakfast where all the 築地 worker is there for breakfast and before they start or end their day after work. The stall may not have a right table or chair for you to sit down and have a slow and easy meal. but the taste will let you forget about it. Just enjoy it.
Beef gyudon is really good but the beef innards is not . Recommend to get the beef gyudon with onsen egg!
Kitsuneya is a brilliant hole in the wall treasure. With its huge iron pot of beef innards being cooked until nice and tender and the flavours meld together into a wonderful symphony of delicious beefy goodness. Konjac jelly strips are added to absorb the flavours and give the stew more body. Topped with a healthy amount of chopped onions and served over rice, it’s a brilliant one bowl wonder to soothe the belly and soul on cold days or any day it is open! From what I know, it follows Tsukiji schedule so it’s closed on Sunday and Wednesday’s and sometimes Monday too!
One person one dish place - as the space to eat is very limited. I recommend coming early because the line is soooo long. On the right is beef bowl and on the left is the innards or called “harumon”. I did not love the innards that much but my husband loves it! It’s pretty hardy. 2 of us we ordered one with rice and one without rice.
